people consume each other - but only just enough, it is gentle, we know when to stop to do no harm. Sexuality, breastfeeding.. the needs of one to another are met. Evil, however, has no concept of this. It consumes with no heed to natural boundaries of humanity. This division is part of the christian doctrine I treasure most. To say we do not need God is the start of something ucky. To say we do not need another is akin. To consume as though humanity as we know it is as immortal as the angels.. that is known as demonic.
The permission of God comes with the permission of people on such matters. When we turn from relationship with the inconsummable God we, who still are drawn to the inconsummable may, often inadvertently, meet our need turning to His inconsummable angels. The inconsummable God makes known his love, in becoming human and not bowing his knee to evil, through his death. The death we are saved from is thus the death that involves inconsummable evil. There is more to life than being inconsummable even though it originates from God who is. There is more to life than knowing good and evil. To know God is profundity. To know God is to find love.
The one thing that I hope defines my character and choice in doctrine, religious/irreligious affiliation - I am yet to find a better definition of love.. or experience of it to outweigh.
